New friends...

For me, the best part about the Marin Open Garden project, besides finding homes for fresh food that might otherwise go to waste, has been the people I have met.

Take Open Garden Project regulars the Catalan brothers, Mill Valley locals who are opening a much needed brew pub in town. Their venture, Mill Valley Beerworks, will offer hand-crafted beer, cider, gingerale and rootbeer brewed on site, of course, as well as small meat and artisan, local cheese plates.  To find out more about this locally-owned small business or to find out how you can become an investor by "adopting a bottle,"  be sure to visit their website.

A new visitor to this week's Saturday exchange in Mill Valley is Greg Everage co-founder of the "Family Eats" website.  What's not to love about a website who's mission is "to illustrate how a family's involvement in the purchasing (or trading!), preparation and consumption of meals produces healthier individuals - mentally, emotionally and physically."  On the website you'll find wonderful food related articles, many written by Greg's foodwriter-wife and business partner Laura, as well as weekly family menus with recipes, weekly tips and access to their blog.

So join us at one of our multiple Marin exchanges and share your story as well as your backyard bounty!
